The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Silicon Valley Arbitration & Mediation Center (SVAMC) today to promote international arbitration as a preferred method of dispute resolution, and to enhance the accessibility, efficiency and effectiveness of international arbitration.
Under the MOU, SIAC and SVAMC will jointly organise in-person, hybrid, and virtual conferences, seminars and workshops on international arbitration. The terms of the MOU also contemplate that SIAC will, subject to the terms of the MOU, assist to request the use of hearing facilities in Maxwell Chambers at preferential rates for U.S.-seated arbitration hearings that are held in Singapore. SVAMC will also be providing assistance in arranging the use of hearing facilities at preferential rates for SIAC arbitration hearings that are held in California or elsewhere in the U.S. Given the well-established reputation of the arbitrator lists and panels of both institutions, the MOU also provides scope to facilitate expansion of these lists by promoting and encouraging cross-applications between institutions.
